SHOP TALK—A VALUABLE COMMUNITY SERVICE
Free, open to the public, drop-in, computer help.
That is the service provided by FRPCUG volunteers at the Saturday Morning Shop Talk sessions. Shop Talk is available in the Fort Collins Senior Center lobby from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm every Saturday the Senior Center is open.
There are 3 important characteristics of Shop Talk:
-
It is available to ALL members of the community at no charge, on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis.
-
The service is designed to provide an informal, comfortable learning environment for ALL knowledge levels, including those brand new to using computers. This is NOT a group of people sitting around talking only in computer jargon.
- FRPCUG volunteers offer a wide range of hardware and software knowledge (including operating system, applications and security software). Please note that hardware repair services are not included.
Here are photographs of a recent Shop Talk session. Sample topics:
- Reasons for a very slow running system (it turns out some extra software was probably included with other software updates).
- Understanding features of an email/web browser program.
- How to set up a wireless router.
- Setting up a brand new computer . . . and others.
Please tell your family, friends, acquaintances and neighbors about this service.
